An Unsubmitted/Unpublished LTE from April 2011
Endorsements mean more than whining! And who the endorser is determines the endorsement’s value. Senator Pat Toomey’s endorsement means Battaglia has his “stamp of approval.” Sam Rohrer travelled across the State to kick-off Battaglia’s campaign in February while Diane Irey leant her support too at the same event. Rohrer lost to Tom Corbett, who Battaglia supported, but as the new PA Director of Americans for Prosperity, Rohrer has identified Battaglia as the rising conservative to create jobs here. Diane Irey is a 4th term Washington County Commissioner and Murtha challenger in 2004, credited for impressive economic development achievements, who wants to work with Battaglia.
Friends and neighbors, we need to see the big picture! Conservative leaders, having won the day in the November 2010 elections, want to maximize opportunities for business and job development at the most local level. They are telling us Dave Battaglia is the Republican candidate for County Commissioner who will enable this multi-level conservative effort to be successful.
Battaglia’s opponents’ response to the Toomey endorsement is more than discouraging.I cannot vote for those who whine that “Toomey didn’t sit down with them” or “ask them what their platforms are;” nor for those who complain that “seeking endorsements divides the Party;” nor for those who belittle the endorsements, claiming they “don’t show the direction of a candidate.” Give me a break! I look for the “stamp of approval” from those highly respected Republican leaders.
